Prowse and Company is proud to support Bikes for Education
We recently loaned our moving van to Maria and Jeff Mason of Bainbridge Island to help transport bikes to Olympia, for further transport to the tiny West African Country of Togo. The Masons work with the owners of Alaffia Sustainable Skincare Products, located near Olympia, to ship bicycles back to Togo in the empty sea vans Alaffia sends to pick up the next load of shea butter. Shea butter is made from the nuts of the wild shea tree that grows in Togo.
Alliafia was started by Olowo-n’djo Tchala, who immigrated in 1998 to the US from Togo, and Rose Hyde, who met Tchala when she was in the Peace Corps. Together they have pumped an estimated $400,000 into Togo’s economy in the past several years. The bikes are for kids in the remote areas of Togo so they can get to school. Quite a great project!
If you are interested in donating a bike or finding out more, call 360-866-8500 or email or see the web site at http://www.alaffia.com. Call us if our moving van can help get your charitable project off the ground.
