Community Electronic Waste Recycling Event Set
It seems that all households have it, a stash of old outdated televisions, computers or printers in their garage or basement, waiting to be thrown out but none of us knows where or has the time to dispose of them properly. On Saturday, July 14th North Kitsap resident will have just such an opportunity right in their own back yard or Central Market’s parking lot to be more specific.
Olympic Printer Resources has teamed up with Poulsbo Central Market, The North Kitsap Herald, American Marine Bank and Prowse & Company to sponsor a Community Electronic Waste Recycling Day on Saturday, July 14th from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm at Central Market in Poulsbo. A portion of the collection fees from the event will be donated to the Poulsbo Marine Science Center.
Items accepted will be: Televisions, Monitors, printers, computers, copiers, VCR/DVD players, telephones, household batteries and cell phones. Collection fees range from $9.00 for phones up to $36.00 dollars for large televisions. Very large copiers, power supplies and batteries will be charged by the pound.
All items will be disassembled into their component parts and resold to certified processors who adhere to U.S. export control regulations regarding the safe handling of Electronic Waste. “We think this gives people a wonderful opportunity to “do the right thing” with this old stuff,” says Dan Price of Olympic Printer Resources. “Our company has been about recycling for fourteen years. Last year alone we kept over 11.2 tons of plastic out of area land fills with our printer cartridge remanufacturing operation. It just makes sense for us to help keep these products from going to waste as well as help out the Marine Science Center.”
For more information on the event please call Olympic Printer Resources at (360) 297-8384.
